Welcome to Flower Sudoku!
On these pages we will show a brand-new variety of Sudoku puzzles, called Flower Sudoku!
There are 5 sudoku puzzles in this layout, similar to Samurai Sudoku. However, these puzzles overlap each other much more than in Samurai. In fact, the center nonet is fully covered by the remaining four sub-puzzles!
We will post Weekly Flower Sudoku puzzles here! However, we won’t only post one variation, but actually 6 different types of these puzzles.
Each Monday you get one of these different “flavors” of Flower Sudoku puzzles.
1. Killer Flower Sudoku (Monday, Dec 24, 2007)
2. classic (aka “vanilla”) Flower Sudoku (Monday, Nov 19, 2007)
3. Odd/Even Flower Sudoku (Monday, Dec 17, 2007)
4. Greater/Less Than Flower Sudoku (Monday, Nov 26, 2007)
5. Flower Sudoku X (diagonal) (Monday, Dec 10, 2007)
6. Consecutive Flower Sudoku (Monday, Dec 03, 2007)

can you tell me which sudokus follow the normal rules as well as the rules for just tate puzzle.
May 17th, 2006 at 11:16 pm
fergus, all sudoku puzzles on this site follow all of the standard sudoku rules.
each variation, however, has its own additional rules. those rules are shown on each page for each different variation.
the “flower” concept means there are 5 puzzles that overlap. one in the middle and 4 that are connected to it.
if you still have any doubts please explain a bit more what is it that you don’t understand.
cheers!

Magnetic SUDOKU Board
Dear Sir/Madam,
I have applied for a patent for the invention that relates to improvement in devices for a number puzzle such as Sudoku. In this connection my application number is 2006902392.
As you have been aware, all Sudoku players feel the frustration of writing numbers with a pencil on the grid paper, rubbing out again. As a result there are a lot of leavings after rubbing out and the grid becomes hard to see, or else it is often made holes in the process. Playing on a PC can solve these problems all right, but a computer puzzle cannot be done by an unfamiliar player or without a PC. Some box-shaped boards on the market are not available everywhere, and they are in general expensive.
All the above problems are overcome by this invention. To enjoy playing Sudoku without a rubber and a pencil or a dry wipe pen, magnetic pieces written numbers are introduced in one form of the invention.
Firstly, a player copies the given numbers on the grid board from a Sudoku book etc. using the coloured face of the magnetic number pieces. Next, the different coloured back of the pieces are placed in empty squares for the possible numbers. To round and thicken magnetic pieces seems to be suited to place and remove, and if possible smaller pieces as a spare is more useful in considering the process.
With regard to a board, for instance, the face is for standard Sudoku and the reverse side is for X-Factor in light colour so that a player can do two sorts of Sudoku. A metal board for magnet is attached only to the surface of a Sudoku board. It is made thinner and to be folded in two for a compact board.
Thus by using the board of this type, Sudoku can be cheerfully done anywhere, not only at home but also outside, in a train or a bus, while traveling, and at any time without a computer.
In reality, as a Sudoku fan for a long time, I have for myself made up a trial Sudoku board and recently enjoyed Sudoku to my heart’s content. No problem!
For your sales promotion, if such a Sudoku board is manufactured at a moderate cost, you can accompany current Sudoku books, magazines or newspapers with it and sell even at any newsagency, supermarket and so on not only within a game shop. Moreover, the boards of various sizes are also available to kids or the aged as the need arises.
In addition, it is a matter to be given some thought that Hindu-Arabic numerals are rewritten in Chinese for an explosive increase of popularity all over the Chinese community or China as well as one-time UK.
At present I am in search for a company that is interested in the device. I strongly believe that such a Sudoku board, in my experience, will become great popular in the near future.
It will be appreciated if you could spare some of your time to examine the invention. I very much look forward to receipt of your view.
Yours sincerely,
Kiyoaki SUGA

DJ - The 8/28 consecutive puzzle was already posted on 7/17 (but labeled as Thinker). Any chance we could get another one?

I love your puzzles, thank you so much! Flowers of all varieties are all favorites of mine.
I am not challenged by regular Sudoku any longer, even the “Dell Sudoku Challenge” ones, which start with hard, then move on to Challenger, Super-Tough, and Brainbuster. They require advanced solving techniques, but even those got old.
Clueless is my all-time favorite, though!!!

Hello DJ! I’m hoping new puzzles will appear soon. Also, can you put a link to the forums on this page, or easier to find on the opening page?
Thanks for the great puzzles.
Amy
p.s. I”m having a great time with the book of yours I bought! Best $$$ I’ve ever spent on any puzzles!
